SPEAK UP
for a Mueller Dog Park
People and dogs deserve a safe place to run, play and socialize.
Nearly 15,000 people now live in East Austin’s Mueller neighborhood. Hundreds of residents and visitors exercise their dogs in Mueller daily. As Mueller’s population has grown, conflicts between dogs and people are on the rise because there’s no safe space for dogs and their owners to safely socialize and play.
In 2024 the Austin Parks & Recreation Department (PARD) offered to fund a six-month pilot project for an off-leash dog park in the city-owned Southeast Greenway at Mueller. However, a greenways maintenance agreement between the city and the Mueller Property Owners Association (POA) requires both parties to approve an off-leash dog park in the greenways.
In April 2025, the Mueller POA appointed a dog park working group to determine whether Mueller should have a fenced off-leash dog park to serve residents of Mueller and nearby neighborhoods, where a pilot park project could be located, and, if a pilot project succeeds, how a permanent park could be developed and maintained.
